The Author observed from his final resting place. Although gone an age he only now felt alive.
His legacy. His words. His stories. Finally finding their fans; a household name in the end.
One reader put his book down. “There’s a typo on the first page.”
He rolled over.
Shit.
It’s been a while since I’ve shared just a short piece of humour for my Fifty Word Fiction so thought I’d dig this old one out. I think this one originally partly inspired by the Vincent Van Gogh episode of Doctor Who (a beautifully brilliant and heartwarming episode) which sees The Doctor take Van Gogh into the present to give him the knowledge the impact his work had on the world. It’s particularly fitting as the final episode of the new season of Doctor Who airs this weekend (one which I’ve been fairly enjoying - I think Ncuti Gatwa is a terrific Doctor and it’s a trip to have RTD back at the helm).
Thank you everyone for the continued support here at Toasted Fiction; for subscribing, reading my stories, engaging with them and sharing them. It really means a lot.
Have a great weekend!
Cheers

Brilliant last line, Chris 😆
